There are museums galore in Venice.
The Guggenheim is worth a visit, both inside the museum and in the gardens there. It's just across the Grand Canal from St. Mark's and is easily reached via vaporetto. Use Line # 1 and get off the vaporetto at the Salute Station.
There's also the Galleria dell'Accademia. That's where I'm heading. I have missed seeing Da Vinci's drawings every single time I've been to Venice. There's lots there to see besides the Vitruvian Man sketch, so if art is your thing, give the Accademia a try. You can walk there from the Guggenheim, or take Lines # 1 or 2 and exit at the Accademia Station.
More art, you say? Sure. Go to any of the Scuola Grande museums and you will get your fill. The best one is probably the Scuola Grande San Rocco. Use Lines # 1 or 2 and exit at the S. Toma station.
Not really a museum, the Livio de Marchi Gallery is another place I want to see. Mr. de Marchi lives in Venice and has become quite a sensation with his wood sculptures. Many are whimsical, some quite realistic, and all are sure to astound or amuse. Check this out...
